The William Tell play is naturally associated with Interlaken as the Jungfrau massif, the horses and carriages and the traditional Grand Hotels. A unique theatre production! Friedrich Schillers play portraying the hero William Tell's struggle for freedom has been performed since 1912 on a wonderful natural stage, set in the Rugen Woods in Matten. The Tell family of over 170 actors consisting entirely of laymen from the leading actor to those performers with minor roles. Also responsible for creating a stirring impression on the audience are the horses, cows and goats. Thanks to the covered stand with 2200 seats, the play can be performed yearly from June through to September (always Thursdays and Saturdays). The performance begins at 8:00 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.
